Pure Messenger Widget
This is one of the top standalone widgets for Android. Pure Messenger can show your Gmails and text messages, as well as Facebook and Twitter feeds.
The widget is very customizable and supports themes. You can make it look great, actually. If you use either ADWLauncher or LauncherPro, then the list of messages the widget shows is scrollable, which is very handy. Pure Messenger may be more useful if you don’t have an HTC Sense device, but it’s still the most powerful messaging widget out there at the moment.
